Eagle Bluffs has recently reopened after its long closure due to the severe flooding this summer and damage to various parts of the conservation area’s infrastructure, some of which is still being repaired. New area manager Brady Lichtenberg has graciously offered to meet us on-site after normal working hours to talk about the summer’s events and how MDC is responding. After this, we’ll do a driving tour of the open roads and enjoy whatever birds are present that evening.
Brady will meet us at the central junction box at 5:00 p.m (see also the overall area map). To lower vehicle numbers and impacts in the area, a carpool will leave from the Katy Trail trailhead parking lot in McBaine at 4:45 p.m. We’ll plan to stay in Eagle Bluffs for several hours, returning to the trailhead lot no later than 8:00 p.m. (sunset is at 8:06 p.m.).
Contact Eric Reuter for more information or to ensure your place in the carpool.
