Join us for a trip to Eagle Bluffs Conservation Area! Eagle Bluffs has a variety of habitats, ranging from open fields to wetlands to wooded areas, contributing to its status of having the highest observed bird diversity of any area in Boone County! On this late summer trip, we hope to see migrating shorebirds and other species.
Meet at the Katy Trail McBaine Trailhead (map) at 8:00 AM on Saturday, August 17, 2024. We will plan to caravan and/or carpool from there into the conservation area. We will plan to drive to the gravel lot northeast of Pool 11 to walk and observe Pools 10 and 11 (map of Eagle Bluffs). We will probably stop at parking areas between McBaine and Pool 11 if birds present themselves.
This trip will involve driving down gravel roads that are flat and generally well-maintained. We plan to do a small amount of walking on those gravel roads to get better vantage points of birds. Estimated trip length is 2 to 3 hours.
Note: Trip plans may change if there is excessive heat warning, stormy weather, or unusually high mosquito numbers. Updates will be posted to this listing if changes are needed.
