To follow up the shorebird identification workshop by Pete Monacell scheduled for Wednesday April 20, Pete has agreed to lead a field trip to Eagle Bluffs Conservation Area on Saturday, April 23, starting at 3:00 PM.

We hope to have stations set up with multiple spotting scopes, with Pete and other shorebird experts offering ID help. Evenings are often a great time to see shorebirds at Eagle Bluffs due to good light, and shorebird numbers sometimes increase in the evening as migrating flocks settle in for the night

The areas we will be birding will be selected by the shorebirds themselves. Areas favored by migrating shorebirds depending on water levels, including pools 2, 5, 10, and 14. We will meet at the Katy Trail SP State Park trailhead in McBaine and carpool to the selected location(s) at 3 PM. We will also try to send an email to CAS members before the event, listing the selected locations.

CAS field trips are open to members and nonmembers. We hope to see you there!
