Hello friends! We’re off to another season with Columbia Audubon Society (CAS). Whether you’re reading this newsletter for the first time or the hundredth time, we hope that you’ll make your way to joining us either at a field trip, potluck or meeting. There are many exciting things happening in Columbia and Boone County.

The new nature school opened this past week and is welcoming its first class of 5th graders as I’m writing this. One of the handouts at the dedication gave great credit to Bill and Jan Mees and CAS. We’re excited to hold our October general meeting on-site at this fabulous new project and hope you’ll plan to be there on Oct. 9th. Emma Buckingham, your new vice-president has a year full of interesting and informative meetings planned. There are quite a few fabulous field trips on the schedule as well. Eric and Joanna Reuter have been busy planning a good variety of sites and habitats. We keep the website updated, so check in regularly to be sure you don’t miss a thing!  Our September picnic is on Sunday, Sept. 15th with field trips starting at 2:30 and the picnic beginning at 4:30 at the Bonnie View shelter. We hope to see you there!

Happy Birding!
