Join us for an afternoon bird walk around Perry Philips Lake in southeast Columbia! October brings many migrating birds to Missouri, and Perry Philips packs a few migratory bird habitat types into a short loop! If we’re lucky, ducks, coots, and grebes could be floating on the lake around the lake with the potential for good views. Sparrows in the fields on the east side of the lake are likely to present some challenging (but fun!) identification puzzles, and yellow-rumped warblers may be flitting amongst the trees by the path. October 14, 2023 is also eBird’s October Big Day.
Details:
  • All skill levels are welcome!
  • Meet at 4:00 p.m. at the parking lot on the southwest side of the lake, off Bristol Lake Parkway.
  • Estimated walking distance is 1.6 miles along a flat loop trail with some gravel, lasting about 1.5 hours.
