Hi all. I hope you’re able to get out to see a few migrants and enjoy the season. I had the pleasure of seeing wood duck hatchlings in a line behind momma in the same water with the nesting Canada goose pair with 6 babies. It always makes me feel more hopeful to see new bird life. Sit down and watch the Blue-gray Gnatcatchers flitting around, and they’re sure to lead you to their nest. The rewards of paying attention to nature during spring migration can be fabulous.

Whatever your schedule for the spring, I hope you’ll plan to join Columbia Audubon for some of our events. There is a First Friday Hike, a Kiwanis Park walk,  a field trip to listen for Whips and Chucks at Rocky Fork Lakes CA, a social event at Logboat Brewery to set folks up for the Migratory Bird Day Count on Sat. the 10th, and a CAS end of year potluck on May 21st. Don’t forget to Bird for Brad today and submit an ebird list with that title! We hope to see you soon! Check our website for more details.

Even though we don’t send newsletters over the summer months, you will receive emails about some field trips that are planned.

However you decide to spend your time, I hope some of it can be in nature!  Whether or not you get to join us on any of our current events that are scheduled, we’ll look forward to seeing you again in the fall.
