Boone County Nature School Council House

Several years ago, Columbia Audubon Society made a donation of $30,000 for the construction of a Council House at the Boone County Nature School.  Members’ excitement about the project was exceeded only by the pride of having been one of the original supporters of the first-of-its-kind Nature School.

Then came Covid 19 and the delays of everything associated with daily living.  Council House construction also fell prey to the virus.  A good idea may be delayed but it can’t be stopped or cancelled.  Eventually something approaching normalcy returns.

Today, construction of the Council House is underway.  Dirt has been turned.  The site has been leveled.  The forms outlining the building are in place.  The concrete for the floor will be poured next week.

Excitement and pride return!
