Plans are in the works for Columbia Audubon Society to host about 90 sixth-graders from Centralia public schools at Wild Haven nature area for a “Day on the Stream”, to be held on Thursday, May 5. This Saturday, April 16, we will work to clear some trails and gathering areas for activities during this field day. We will also clean up the picnic shelter and Jenkins Hall.

Our work on Saturday will include removing fallen logs and small trees and shrubs from trails and gathering areas, using chainsaws, loppers, and pruning saws. Cleaning the buildings will require leaf blowers, rakes, and brooms. A portable generator to power a shop-vac would be helpful.

We will plan to work from about 9 AM to noon (or as long as you can make it). Park near the picnic shelter or Jenkins Hall. Contact John Besser at (jbesser1@gmail.com) if you can help on Saturday and if you can bring any of the necessary tools.

Thanks!
