An eBird Tutorial…for Beginners and Beyond
Interested in joining thousands of other birders by inputting your bird data into ebird? Don’t know where to start? A group leader on the Christmas Bird Count and want to input your data on CAS’s site? Been an eBird user many years but wonder how to do more? This is the meeting for you! We’ll begin with a brief overview of topics such as: how to input a list on your mobile device, how to enter lists on an iPad or laptop, how to generate a trip report, how to use eBird when you travel to find local birding hotspots, how to enter historical data and how to sign up for the rare bird alert) and then move quickly into small groups designed to give you individual help. You can move from group to group as you desire.
Bring your devices with you (be sure they are charged!!) such as phones, iPads or laptops. If you have not set up an eBird account you might do that ahead of time. Keep in mind that your selection of a username is best if it can associated with you (so friends who are sharing lists can find you easier) and that you will like it FOREVER. You can’t change a username once the account is set up. You would need to begin a new account if you want to change the username. If even THIS seems too overwhelming, just bring your device and a volunteer will help you set it up! Keep in mind that your account/name can appear anonymously on the website if you prefer others not be able to identify you.
