Didn’t think you could have a newsletter this close to Election Day without a reminder to vote, did you?

Things to know about voting in Boone County:

  • In-person absentee voting is available at the county clerk’s office (801 E. Walnut) until 5:00 p.m. November 2nd, vote inside in room 236 or utilize the outdoor tent set up on the east side of the building.
  • For voting on November 3rd, find your polling place here ( https://report.boonecountymo.org/mrcjava/servlet/VR01_MP.I03050s ) or all residents registered in Boone County can vote at the central polling place located in the Mizzou Arena (1 Champions Drive)
  • Polling places are open 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. – as long as you are in line by 7:00 p.m. you will be allowed to vote.

Once the elections are over, there is still important work to do in our community. After the 2016 elections I came across this quote from an unknown source: “Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.”

What kind of community do you want for Columbia, and how does Audubon play a part? Do you want to see more open and accessible nature areas, clean of trash and free of invasive plants? Get involved with our hike and hack events at CAS-owned nature areas! Do you want our fellow community members to be knowledgeable on bird conservation and broad environmental topics? Volunteer for our student outreach projects and help mold the next generation of birders!
