The Columbia Audubon Society was organized in 1958 and serves 6 counties: Audrain, Boone, Cooper, Howard, Monroe, and Randolph. Our mission is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity.

  • Members of the local Columbia Audubon Society receive our newsletter, The Chat, are exposed to excellent speakers on a variety of natural history topics at monthly meetings, and have access to our wildlife areas. Local membership dues support Columbia Audubon Society functions such as the Christmas Bird Count, conservation work at our 3 wildlife areas, and local education programs. The local annual membership renews on September 1 of each year.
  • Members of the National Audubon Society who live in Audrain, Boone, Cooper, Howard, Monroe, and Randolph Counties also receive the membership benefits of the Columbia Audubon Society, with the exception that only a web-based version of our newsletter The Chat is available. Benefits of becoming a member of the National Audubon Society include receiving Audubon magazine, access to society-owned sanctuaries, and the satisfaction of making a financial contribution to campaigns such as Birds in the Balance.
